There's been debate recently of Plasma TV vs LCD TV. Plasma and LCD have been at each others necks for a while now. In the past five years these two have been battling it out, you'd think there'd be a winner by now.
Let's open with the comparisons of the 2 technologies. Lets begin with plasma TV. Plasma has tons of gas cells that are combined to create an image. On the other hand LCD or liquid crystal display uses "glass sandwiches" of liquid crystal. This illustration is created by regulating the amount of electrical charge to each individual crystal. After that, the screen is illuminated in the back by several LED's or florescent tubes. These things are the differences between the 2 different types of TV. For example if a plasma cell is off its unlit meaning better blacks, A LCD pixel is still using electricity and lit even when the screen is black. Though LCD backlighting has improved, plasma television has stayed 1 step ahead. Even with the largest sizes we've seen some excellent results from the best LCD TV 55 inch screens, but without debate plasma TV is still better. The disadvantage, the motion blower is the major one. It lags when LCD pixels are turned off and on. Some LCD HDTV are down to 5 milliseconds but none-the-less it can still lead to a blur in motion. This is something plasma TV doesn't have to worry about, not to mention the black level issue
Lcd Tv
Plasmas are very good at reproducing film like quality. Doesn't mean you have to go the whole way to get a cinema experience. currently 1080p has yet to hit plasma panels in a huge way but the number is growing. The only bad thing about this is the "burn in effect" This happens when a panel broadcast the same image for an extensive period of time and the image is permanently burned in on the screen. For Plasma TVs this does not mean it will last forever and will eventually go away. Finding a cheap plasma is not difficult, but you may want to consider the prices vs LCD
Even with HD being the "cool thing for 2010 there still is very little content for 1080p. Even when compared to the thousands of TV shows and DVD's. 1080p means 1920 by 1080 pixels and is the best high quality resolution money can buy. You may gain some comfort now to buy a 1080p TV. However you may not be getting the best picture. It's not all about the resolution.
Other qualities to look for would include 100 hertz. This effectively removes the awful jumpy image from movies and over-seas TV shows. To get the best out of HD disk you'd want something called 24P.
Still confused? well don't be. You are the only person who can make the right choice as to buy a TV. Try and view as many TV's viewing the same shows/movies as you can. Try going to your nearest local best buy, Wal-Mart or any outlet store where they have the same video displayed upon dozens of televisions. Then after choosing the television you want to buy. Go on the net to Plasma God and search for the same make & model. 9 out of 10 times Plasma God is the cheapest.
